Activity 1: Costs and Benefits of Mongol Rule
The vast size of the Mongol Empire was made possible by the power of their conquering armies. The destruction caused by warfare led to disruptions in trade and everyday life. However, many benefits resulted from the period of rule under the Mongol regions, known as Khanates.
Directions: Consider how each of the following developments is an example of a cost or benefit of Mongol rule and then drag the correct column. Use the buttons provided to check the latest move or, when you are done, check the whole question.

Many of the benefits you analyzed or examined had lasting effects on societies after the Mongol empire collapsed. Many of the costs contributed to the fall of the empire.
