Opening: Revolutions Then and Now
During this lesson we will explore an economic revolution that transformed the world starting in the 19th century. Discoveries and advances that improved the standard of living for many people played an important part in this revolution. Similar changes have occurred during recent years. In order to better understand the transformations of the 19th century, you will first think about changes of the late 20th and early 21st century.
Directions: Read each newspaper headline from the most recent era of technological change. Then, answer the following questions as directed by your teacher.

- How do these innovations impact travel and communication?
- How do these inventions change your daily life?
Now that you have considered the changes that have occurred during your own lifetime, move on to learn about similar changes that occurred during the industrial era.
