Activity 2: The Communist Manifesto

Socialists rejected industrial capitalism and believed it widened the gap between the rich and poor. They believed only a socialist society could solve the problems of poverty and injustice caused by the changes of the 19^th century. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote what is widely considered the foundational document of socialism, The Communist Manifesto. Use the following historical investigation to analyze how the core beliefs and goals of the socialist movement respond to the social problems of the 19^th century.
