Unit 3: Revolutions and Reaction
Lesson A: Conflict and Progress in the European World
Activity 2: A Glorious Time for Democracy
As you have learned, the rule of King Charles I made a significant number of the English people and Parliament unhappy with the monarchy. The bloody English Civil War that followed ended with the fall of the king. However, the events that followed during the "Restoration" restarted the controversy over rule by later monarchs. Historians have termed the events that followed the "Glorious Revolution."
Your next task is to view the mini lesson that follows and analyze the events that affected the king's rule. Your focus question will be to investigate why historians have called the final events a "glorious" revolution by answering the question: What was so "glorious" about the Glorious Revolution?
