Review

Empires rise and they fall. Many empires such as the Roman, Han, and Islamic Empires dominated regions of the world for centuries, while others lasted for shorter time periods. These empires spread with powerful armies and strong leaders. As empires spread, they encountered diverse populations that they had to find ways to effectively rule. There are many reasons given for the fall of empires, such as corruption, excessive wealth, and the lack of keeping up with technology.

Assessment

Empires changed the world and set up the foundation of our concepts of political power and influence. Some empires lasted for centuries while others lasted for less. There were similarities and differences in the rise and fall of these empires. Think about these examples as you complete the BCR below.
