Unit 2: How Trade and Travel Changed the World
Lesson D: The Chinese Continent
Review and Assessment
Review
China's return to power in Asia was shown with the rise of the Ming Empire. Confucian philosophy, Chinese language, and traditional religious systems played a strong role in Asian life. However, the culture of civilizations in the rest of East Asia and Southeast Asia reflected a mix of customs and traditions. Trade and travel allowed ideas about culture and government to create a diverse Asian population. The spread of Buddhism and Daoism, Japanese and Korean knowledge, and various languages reflected a multicultural Asian continent.
